 Biography

Dr. Edel B. García Reyes Graduated in mathematical Cybernetics in the University of Havana, in 1986 and received the Ph Doctor's degree in Technical Sciences at the Technical Institute “José Martí” of Havana, in 1997. At the moment, he is working as a researcher in the Advanced Technologies Application Center, where he occupies the position of Boss of the Department of Pattern Recognition.

Dr. Edel has focused his investigations in digital image processing of teledetectión data of the earth. He has published more than 20 technical articles. He has directed 2 doctoral thesis and more than 5 mastery thesis.

He has participated as member of technical committees and experts' groups, including the International Congress of Geology, Havana, 1998, The National Program of Global Changes, Havana (2000-2005) and the Subcommittee of Scientific Grades of Geodesy and Cartography, Havana (1999-2001).

Dr. Edel worked in the Cuban Institute of Geodesy and Cartography (1986-1995) and in the Managerial Group GeoCuba (1995-2001) where he directed the Agency of the Centre of Data and Computer science of Geocuba-investigation and Consultancy (1998-2001). Dr. Edel was working in Logistics of the Managerial Group in CUBALSE (2001-2003).
